An unlikely duo, Penny and Leonard have a deep love and attraction to each other. One of the biggest problems in their relationship is that each one feels inadequate about what s/he is lacking. For Leonard, it is that he is nerdy and not the kind of guy Penny is used to hanging out with. For Penny, she fears she will never be intelligent enough for Leonard.
They are opposites in many ways. He is brain smart while she is street smart; she is athletic while he is not. Penny’s apartment is a disorganized mess while Sheldon and Leonard’s place is clean and orderly (it must be written somewhere in the “Roommate Agreement”).
Despite their rocky relationship, they became engaged at the end of the seventh season and will hopefully give viewers a lot of laughs as they plan their upcoming nuptials.
She also likes to tease Sheldon, although sarcasm does not really register with him and most of the time he misses the point of her comments. She can also be maternal to him, as she sang "Soft Kitty" to him when he was ill.
