She may be small in stature, but Bernadette Maryann Rostenkowsi-Wolowitz is a force to be reckoned with. Standing at barely five feet tall, this intellectual giant has a Ph.D. in microbiology. A former Cheesecake Factory waitress, she earned her own way to get her degree and now works for a pharmaceutical company.

Viewers first met Bernadette in Season 3 of The Big
Bang Theory, and over time fans have learned much more about her. Both Howard and she have overbearing mothers
who have made their lives difficult.
Bernadette, for example, is unsure if she wants to have kids or stay
home with them if Howard and she do have them, as she was forced to babysit her
many younger siblings since she was the oldest child.
Her father is a retired police officer who has a hard
time seeing her married to Howard. On a
few occasions, she attempts for them to be together so the two men in her life
can get along. This does not always
work.
Besides marrying Howie, she also married his
mother. Tired of living in his childhood
home as a newlywed couple, Bernadette finally convinced her husband to move
into a place of their own. Of course, they visit the unseen Mrs. Wolowitz often
and Bernadette tries to make the visits as pleasant for them both as she can.
Her distinctive voice, a bit Betty Boopish in tone, can
turn right into a harsh Mrs. Wolowitz tenor when she is angry or upset. She can be quite vengeful and can do a quick
180 turn in her attitude if you tick her off.
She is unafraid to speak her mind, and that is why fans love her so much. She has some of the funniest lines in any episode
in which she appears.
Bernadette’s style of dress is quite distinct. She typically wears loud floral dresses with
plunging necklines, toped by a shrug or other short sweater. She also wears matching tights and her
signature red framed glasses.
